Thanks for the info but it's a Hoover that I'm needing desperately to replace - it smells smoky and it doesn't pick up anything - it's not even that old. My mom bought the same model at the same time and the only reason hers isn't as bad now is probably b/c she has had hardwood floors all over for the past 7 years and hasn't really used it as much whereas we have had carpet!
